The Do's and Don'ts of Cooking and Entertaining
The girls from Lumleys once again save the day. This time with 'What To Do & What Not To Do When Cooking and Entertaining'
As a modern day man you'll be expected to not only know your way around the kitchen but also to know how to entertain with style and class.
The Do's:
•Make sure you chose a menu that is within your ability.
•Always check for allergies amongst your guests. The consequences could be disastrous.
•Use seasonal ingredients where possible. Eg Strawberries in December will be from abroad and taste of very little.
•Try to vary the colours, flavours and textures when you cook to compliment one another. Get those tastebuds watering!
•Wine glasses should be kept topped up. (Just to the widest part of the glass though....anymore is just too vulgar!)
•Be as organised as you can, so that when your guest(s) arrive you can be a proper host. (lay the table in advance, open wine etc)
•Candles are very flattering and set the tone. (Just make sure they aren't scented and you don't overdo it!)
•Music is also good but choose carefully!
•Food that requires ones hands to eat it can be very sensual
The Don'ts:
•Don't wear so much aftershave that all other senses are dulled.
•Piling a plate high with food is not appetising. Feeling bloated and overfaced is not romantic or mood enhancing.
•Don't leave your mobile on. Your full attention should be on your guest(s).
